Residential Circuit Breakers

As the name suggests, residential circuit breakers Electrical Motor Controls are used to prevent electric shock or fire accidents in residential buildings. They are needed to safeguard against any risks and liabilities that may be connected with electricity.

Commercial circuit breakers are designed for bigger commercial buildings. They are primarily used to withstand the shocks created by high speed mechanisms like machinery. They work at much higher speeds and hence, need a stronger design to withstand the pressure.

Residential circuit breakers on the other hand, function with a light sensitivity. Though they function faster than commercial models, they are also less sensitive to wear and tear.

When it comes to residential circuit breakers, these are available in different forms, sizes and types. The two main types are - sliding or non-sliding and installed either inside or outside the door frame.

Non-sliding circuit breakers are generally positioned close to the door. They are usually slotted in such a way that the circuit breaker is able to pass through the wires. This is in contrast to the 'pinch' type that is installed inside the door frame and does not allow the power to pass through.

There are numerous advantages of using the non-sliding circuit breakers. It offers a low maintenance as the regular cleaning is not required and the wire is kept away from the area where breakers are to be installed.

In a building with many doors, it becomes important to find out which of the circuit breakers is to be installed. Because of this, it is advised to have a plan in mind and determine the best place to install each circuit breaker.

It is also important to install the breakers in all the electrical rooms and outlets. This ensures that all the circuits are covered so that all the wires are protected and not subjected to high voltage.

In residential properties, there are some high voltage appliances that can be exposed even if the circuit breakers are installed in the right place. Hence, the safety measures should be taken when using these appliances.

Apart from installing the circuit breakers properly, it is also important to make sure that the wire is not short circuited. Short circuiting can cause a surge of electricity and can lead to serious injury and death.
