How to Clean a Porta Potty
When I first moved to Alexandria, MN my friends Porta Potty Fergus Falls MN and I would sometimes go to the porta potty when we could. It was a great place to go when we didn't have much time, but then came the bad part. It was expensive and not very clean.
Now, that I'm back in Alexandria it's more of the same, but it's also changed. Porta Potty cleaning is a very important part of any maintenance program. I'll talk about how I cleaned my first one here.
My first porta potty was very dirty. It was overflowing with urine, soapy urine, a bad smell that got stronger every day, and some mold. My neighbors kept asking me what was going on with it. I knew they didn't want to use it either. I knew it had to be taken care of, so I did what I could do about it.
The first thing I did was take it apart. I took off the feet and the top of the unit, cleaned out the urine, and threw away the soapy water. When I returned it I cleaned the interior. I don't know if you've ever heard of kaolin, but it's a form of clay used for making flooring and furniture.
I vacuumed it with a doormat so that the dust was all sucked up. After that I applied talcum powder to the walls to keep it clean. I made sure there were no cracks in the floor or there were very few places for the dog to pee on.
I also considered sealing the area around the porta potty. If you don't remember the sealant from grade school that's a very good idea because it does protect the floor, but also it absorbs water well and makes cleaning the inside much easier.
It took me about an hour to clean my porta potty. Then I went to sleep, and when I woke up the next morning the smell was gone.
It's a great place to take a vacation, but it can be messy. You have to find a good company that has a good reputation. You want to find a company that offers a one-time cleaning, not monthly or yearly. I'm always amazed at companies that charge more for something like a porta potty cleaning than it cost to get them in the first place.
There are many benefits to owning a porta potty and having one, but I also think it's a good idea to have it cleaned periodically. I also think it's a good idea to rent it out when it gets dirty. There's no reason why you can't go to the porta potty and not have to worry about cleaning it.
The next time you rent it you might ask to have it cleaned by someone other than the owner, who might pay to have it done. Ask about referrals, and if the company you're considering doesn't offer referrals you may have a better experience going to another company.
Also, check into things like porta potty rentals. With the economy the way it is, you might consider renting the unit for a week or two, so you can be assured you won't have to go through the maintenance and repairs that could come with having to clean it yourself.
As you can see, porta potty cleaning isn't a job, but it can be fun and relaxing. The maintenance should be considered on a regular basis, and you can get away with monthly maintenance if you really have the time to go to the porta potty.
